In the fall of 1995, just after I had graduated from Willamette University with an art degree, my best childhood friend and I spent two months travelling through western Europe by train. I kept a sketchbook journal of the experience, and it has become one of my most treasured and sentimental possessions (aside from my husband and children, of course).

This is what you get on the rare occasion you've got a delayed train in Europe. I had an hour to kill at the train station in Frankfurt while trying to hook up with a college buddy that was staying near Heidelburg. I'm glad we were delayed, this is another favorite of mine. You can see on the little sign above the traveller with the suitcase in front of me, that the sign says "60 min. spat" for 60 minutes late.
