PhotoShop-d > Kimberly Teichrow  > Portfolio > My Lessons in Photoshop
Post Photosho World 2008, I'm finding I'm having a long of fun testing out images, and developing a style, for better or worse, in image enhancement. Here are some trials and errors. While I come from a graphic design background, my recent challenges have been how to use Photoshop for photography, rather than design. I'm finding it takes some time to develop an artistic eye purely for photography, without design elements. I'm sure this is a bit elementary for some... but I'm happy with my progress!

Kimberly Teichrow > Portrait of Max - After. Not perfect... but better. I need to work on making the color replacement less astro-turfy!
Kimberly Teichrow > Lacy Foliage - AFTER. You know, all things considered, I love it. I don't know if it was a mistake to boost the purples in the background. Does anyone have any comments?
Kimberly Teichrow > Lacy Foliage - context shot. It was such beautiful light. I could have spent a lot of time shooting, but it's my classic internal struggle as a mom and photographer. Shoot the image, or go play and be present with the family.
Kimberly Teichrow > Climbing the Stump - BEFORE. We camped last weekend at Beverly Beach State Park, between Newport and Depoe Bay on the Oregon Coast. The nature walk was stunning, and I figured I'd have some fun bringing the colors out.
Kimberly Teichrow > Climbing the Stump - AFTER What a difference. I love it, do you? I suppose I could have burned a bit more of the edges along the bottom...
Kimberly Teichrow > This red faced baby needed some help smoothing out the skin tones. He'd just nursed... This technique is directly from Smug Mug's help pages (THANKS!) relating to "getting good prints" and the "too red" section.
Kimberly Teichrow > Toggle back and forth and you really see how this simple correction in Photoshop can help!
Kimberly Teichrow > This gentleman had been in the sun and it showed... I used the smugmug tips (see notes in the baby face caption) combined with the healing brush and got great results for how much time I spent on it (not too much, really.... check out the next picture!).
Kimberly Teichrow > I'm not worried about how the background is distracting... I didn't really spend time on it, I am only showing how effective the face retouching can be.
